Our Process
The SoilSta application process is quick and easy.
1. The amount of SoilSta to stabilise a calculated section of road is loaded into a water bowser with spray nozzles
2. Water is added as calculted to ensure OMC (Optimum Moisture Content)
3. The road section is ripped, using a grader, to the specified depth
4. The ripped material is windrowed to break up clods and remove large rocks/stones
5. The windrowed material is spread evenly over the section
6. The SoilSta & water mix is sprayed out over the section
7. Using the grader blade, the product is mixed into the soil
8. The mixed material is spread evenly over the section
OR
Actions in numbers 3 -8 is replaced by using a Recycler as in the video below

9. The treated area is compacted using a minimum 10 ton smooth drum vibrating roller
10. With the grader blade, cut the profile to specification and re-compact (*)
11. The road can now be opened to traffic
12. A seal - asphalt, Cape seal, Spray and Chip, etc - can be applied about 3-4 days after the stabilisation process.

(*) It is recommended that a weak solution of SoilSta - 1 litre SoilSta per 10m2 - is sprayed over the compacted surface, directly after process number 10. A pneumatic roller is then applied for 6-8 passes

Video: Westgate, Harare, April 2017
This video was taken during the stabilisation process - with SoilSta @ 1% application - of
Lorrainne Drive, the main artery from Westgate leading into Harare central. This was one of three roads upgraded on contract to the USA adjacent to the new USA embassy as they were in very poor condition.
A variety of soils were encountered from iron stone gravel - varying from G5 - G8 - to collapsible sands, all with different clay content.
After 4 years, the roads are intact with no maintenance required.

Rip the area to the
required depth with
a 140G type Grader

Windrow by using the blade of the Grader to break up clods and remove large rocks & stones

Spray the required amount
of SoilSta mixed with the
calculated amount of
water (to achieve OMC)
over the prepared area

Work the SoilSta/water mix into the windrowed material with the blade of the Grader and spread the treated soil evenly over the area

Compact the area with a minimum 10 ton smooth drum vibrating roller to 100% compaction

Cut the profile with the grader and recompact

The compacted road can immediately opened to traffic (the pneumatic compaction derived from vehicle tyres further strengthens the treated layer)

Compaction with a
Pneumatic Roller
